What are angel bites?
An angel bites piercing is two upper-lip piercings placed symmetrically: a Monroe on the left and a Madonna on the right, each sitting off-center above the lip line where a beauty mark would be. Each one goes straight through the lip into the mouth, with a decorative top on the outside and a flat disc resting against the gum on the inside.
On the Baron Art menu the placement is listed as "Monroe / Madonna / Upper Side Labret" and priced per placement, so a pair counts as two piercings. Angel bites are the upper-lip counterpart of snake bites, which sit on the lower lip.
Placement

Both piercings are placed above the upper lip, roughly under the outer edge of each nostril, though the exact spot depends on your lip shape, smile, and the position of your teeth and gums. The piercer marks both sides and checks the symmetry with you before piercing.
Because the back of each stud sits inside the mouth against the gum, placement also takes your gum line into account. That is a big part of why angel bites differ from angel fangs, where both ends of the jewelry stay outside.
Pain
Do angel bites hurt?
Pain is subjective, but most clients describe each side as a quick, sharp pinch. The upper lip is more sensitive than the lower lip, and a pair means two pinches in one session.
Expect swelling for the first few days, peaking around day 2–3; that's normal for any lip piercing and the reason the starter posts are fitted long.
Healing

Typically 6–8 weeks, the same window as a single Monroe or labret.
Downsize the starter posts at about 2–4 weeks, once the swelling drops, so the extra length stops rubbing your teeth and gums.
Angel bites heal on two fronts: clean the outside with sterile saline twice a day, and rinse the inside with distilled water after you eat, drink, or smoke.
Avoid spicy, acidic, and messy food, plus smoking, vaping, and alcohol, for the first two weeks, and don't play with the discs against your teeth.
Your piercer's own instructions always take precedence over this guide.
Jewelry
Angel bites piercing jewelry
Angel bites are pierced with flat-back labret studs, one per side, fitted deliberately long to allow for swelling and shortened at the downsize appointment. Implant-grade titanium is the standard starter metal; 14k gold is available.
Jewelry is chosen in-studio and priced separately from the service fee: titanium starts at $15–$25 and 14k gold at $65–$70, depending on the studio. Baron Art only uses jewelry purchased from the studio.
Downsizing on time matters more here than for most piercings: a long post rubbing the gums is what causes gum recession. For piercings done at Baron Art, the downsizing service fee is waived; you only pay for the shorter posts.
